Punta Gorda Town, Belize (WBWTN) – A tragic discovery was made on Saturday, May 24, in the VOA area of Punta Gorda Town, where the body of 18-year-old Dionaldo Ezekiel Cucul was found hanging from a tree.
According to reports, Cucul was last seen on the night of Thursday, May 22, following a domestic dispute at his home. He reportedly went to bed in a separate room and left quietly the following day without informing anyone of his whereabouts.
Worry began to grow among relatives after several attempts to contact him went unanswered. On Saturday afternoon, after receiving a message indicating that he might have gone to the VOA area, relatives began searching for him. There, near the seaside, they found him hanging from a tree with a white rope. His hands also appeared to have been tied.
Efforts were made to cut him down, but Cucul was already unresponsive. Authorities were called to the scene. There were no visible indications that his death involved any suspicious activity. He was later transported to the Punta Gorda Community Hospital.
His untimely death has left family, friends, and the wider community in deep sorrow.
