Orange Walk, Belize (WBWTN) – On Tuesday night, June 10, Ryan Budna went live on social media for the first time since being released from prison, addressing his supporters and sharing details of what he claims is ongoing harassment from people in power.
Speaking for nearly an hour, Budna spoke openly about the challenges he says he’s faced for standing up against political corruption and exposing wrongdoing.
Budna described an incident where he was physically assaulted by a man, an attack he says was caught on video. After filing a police report and being treated for his injuries, which were classified as harm, Budna said no charges were ever brought against his attacker. According to him, senior police officers told him they were pressured by politicians not to arrest the man involved.
“You know what the police told me? Politicians keep calling, saying don’t arrest that man,” Budna said. “That man beat me publicly on video what more evidence does the police department need?”
Budna criticized certain individuals in government who, he claims, are abusing their power.
He also questioned why, despite being arrested in Orange Walk, he was quickly transported to Belmopan and detained for several days. Budna described his arrest as resembling a kidnapping, saying he was taken by unmarked, heavily tinted vehicles with masked individuals.
Despite everything, Budna remains defiant and says he will continue speaking out.
His live video has already been viewed thousands of times, drawing attention not only in Belize but also among supporters abroad.
