Belize City (WBWTN) – The Public Service Union President is urging the Government of Belize to stop what he describes as divisive attacks against the union and its members, and return to the negotiating table to address salary adjustment matters.

In an address to PSU members and the Belizean public, the union leader expressed concern that taxpayer funded resources are being used to discredit the joint unions and target him personally, rather than focus on dialogue and fair negotiation.

He further called on government employees involved in the campaign to formally renounce any future benefits that may be negotiated by the PSU, if they oppose the union’s efforts. Similar calls were made to CEOs who reportedly received salary increases during a period of economic strain for frontline workers.

The PSU President warned that continued actions by the government may lead to legal and ethical accountability, accusing officials of engaging in defamatory attacks through state-sponsored advertisements.

He closed by appealing to Belizeans at home and abroad for continued solidarity, while also signaling that the union is preparing for nationwide action should the government fail to engage in meaningful dialogue.
