Belmopan, Belize (WBWTN) – In a successful international operation, a fugitive who had been evading U.S. law enforcement for more than a year has been apprehended and returned to the United States. The operation was carried out through a collaborative effort involving the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) special agents at the U.S. Embassy in Belize, the DSS Miami Field Office, Belizean authorities, the United States Marshals Service (USMS), and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The individual, whose name has not been released to the public, was wanted in Florida on multiple serious charges, including burglary and assault on a law enforcement officer. After being located in Belize, the coordinated team ensured his safe and secure return to the U.S.

The individual was apprehended by federal agents once the flight landed in Miami, marking the culmination of a coordinated international effort to bring him back into U.S. custody.

Authorities emphasized that the case serves as a clear message: fleeing the country does not mean escaping justice.
