Belmopan City, Belize (WBWTN) – On Friday, June 6, 2025, a decomposed body was found hanging from a tree behind the University of Belize (UB) gymnasium in Belmopan.
According to reports, the body was discovered deep in the bushes, about 100 yards behind the gym. It appeared to have been there for some time, with visible signs of decomposition.
A individual stumbled upon the scene he had been attending his sister’s graduation at UB on June 5. He shared that during the event, he stepped away to use the bathroom but was informed there were none available at the time. As a result, he walked into the nearby bushes. That’s when he noticed the lifeless body hanging from a tree, which startled him. He quickly left the area and informed his father and his partner about what he had seen. The authorities were contacted the following day.
The body was found hanging with a white rope tied around the neck. He had a visible tattoo with the name “Ben” on his left forearm and a raindrop beneath his left eye.
Though the body has not been officially identified, it is believed to be Benancio Coc, a 28 year old resident of the Maya Mopan area, who was reported missing over a month ago on May 3.
