Cayo District, Belize (WBWTN) — A case of severe animal neglect has stirred outrage in the Cayo community, as a well-known animal welfare volunteer, Michelle Rudon, took to Facebook to raise the alarm about a horse in desperate need of medical attention.
According to Rudon, residents living behind the “Dress for Less” store reached out to her after discovering the injured and neglected animal. In her emotional post, she described the situation as heartbreaking and infuriating, calling it “yet another” incident in what she says is a growing pattern of animal abuse in the area.
“These little horses are suffering badly,” she wrote. “My hands are completely tied right now and this horse needs immediate help or he or she will die.”
Rudon, who has long been involved in rescuing and caring for abused animals, expressed frustration with the lack of resources and ongoing reports of mistreatment. She is now pleading for assistance from veterinarians, BAHA, Reimers Feed Mill, Animal Medical Centre, or anyone able to step in and provide emergency care.
The post has since gained attention, with many in the community expressing concern and anger. Residents are urged to come forward if they can assist or connect the animal with professional care.
Anyone willing to help can reach out to Rudon directly through her Facebook page.
