Corozal, Belize (WBWTN) – A Corozal resident is recovering after being shot while working on a vehicle Saturday afternoon.
Around 2:00 p.m. on May 24th, 37-year-old Alphius Henry Jr., a mechanic from the White Cocal area in Corozal Town, was at a neighbor’s home assisting with vehicle repairs when the incident occurred. According to Henry, he suddenly heard a loud bang coming from a nearby bushy area and immediately felt a burning sensation in his right leg.
He was quickly rushed to the Corozal Community Hospital by a nearby resident. Medical personnel later confirmed that Henry sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg, with both entry and exit points visible. He has since been admitted and is under observation in stable condition.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, but residents in the area were left shaken by the unexpected violence in what is typically a quiet neighborhood. Community members are hopeful for Henry’s full recovery.
