San Pedro Colombia, Toledo – A fire late Thursday night caused significant damage to a small business and home in the village of San Pedro, Colombia. The estimated loss is around $40,000.
The property owner, a woman, reported to authorities that she had closed her shop around 6:00 p.m. and went into her house for the evening. She was in her room around 11:40 p.m. when her dog started barking. When she got up to check, she noticed flames coming from the business area.
She ran outside and called for help. Although no one came right away, her cousin and a few villagers later assisted. By then, much of the structure and its contents had already been damaged.
The woman says she has no problems with anyone and is unsure how the fire started. The cause remains under investigation.
